Website
This is a static website hosted on Microsoft Azure. We have not added analytics, advertising, cookies, contact forms or visitor accounts. Styles and images are served from this website; the page does not load third-party tracking scripts.
Like other web hosting services, Azure receives connection information such as your IP address and the requested page to deliver the site. Infrastructure may process technical request information for operation and security.
Windows app
- Transcription: microphone audio is sent to ElevenLabs to turn your speech into text. Scriber saves the transcript on your PC. It does not save microphone recordings to disk.
- Proofreading: automatic proofreading is on by default and can be turned off in Settings. With it enabled, the finalized transcript is sent to Azure OpenAI for correction. The original transcript and corrected text are stored separately. A saved preference to turn proofreading off is preserved.
- Read aloud: the text you select or explicitly paste is sent to ElevenLabs to generate speech. Scriber saves the reading text and your position locally. Generated speech is held in memory, so reopening a reading may require new speech generation.
- History: transcription and reading histories are stored locally as text files. They are not encrypted or synced by Scriber. Each history can be deleted independently in the app.
- Credentials: provider API keys are stored using Windows encryption. The app requires your own provider credentials. Provider usage and data policies apply to requests made with those credentials.
Copying text uses the Windows clipboard. Your Windows clipboard history, sync settings and any application you paste into control what happens to that copy.
AI providers
Transcription, proofreading and speech generation use external services and require an internet connection. Provider data policies apply.
